Waste Management Services Boosted in Al-Bab and Jarablus Region
As part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and public services in the Aleppo countryside, local authorities have announced the deployment of seven modern garbage compactor trucks to the Al-Bab region. Six of the vehicles have been allocated to the city of Al-Bab, while one has been assigned to the city of Al-Ra’i.
This initiative comes in response to an urgent need to modernize waste collection and transport services, reducing reliance on temporary dump sites that do not meet necessary environmental standards.
Hussain Al-Shahabi, an official for the Al-Bab region, explained that the acquisition of these vehicles is part of a comprehensive strategy to address the shortage caused by an aging fleet and increasing operational pressure. Al-Shahabi emphasized that the new trucks feature advanced technical specifications designed to improve field work efficiency and ensure the continuity of essential services for residents.
Ali Al-Rajab, head of the Al-Bab City Council, noted that the arrival of the six new vehicles will significantly alleviate the burden on the old fleet, which had been operating in shifts for up to 18 hours a day to meet the city’s needs. Al-Rajab added that the council is currently working on a plan to permanently close the temporary dump site and redirect waste transfer operations to the main facility in the village of Na’man. This transition is expected to reduce environmental damage and protect public health for residents in and around the city.
Separately, the head of the Al-Ra’i City Council, Mohammed Othman, confirmed that the new compactor truck allocated to the municipality would help close gaps in cleaning operations. Previously, the city relied on only one vehicle to serve both the city center and its surrounding villages. Othman stated that the municipality is also in the process of implementing a project to renew waste containers and distribute them more effectively to ensure a clean and sustainable environment.
These service-oriented actions follow a series of projects recently launched by the Al-Bab regional administration. Most notably, a comprehensive project for road rehabilitation and asphalt paving began in late June, reflecting a broader effort to improve service delivery and upgrade infrastructure in liberated areas of the Aleppo countryside.
