Inspection Tour Held at Kasab Border Crossing to Review Upgrades

Tamim Al-Sawaghi, Assistant to the Head of the General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs, led an inspection tour of the Kasab border crossing in the Latakia countryside. The visit, which included a delegation from the Authority’s central administration, was part of ongoing efforts to evaluate operational conditions and review procedures governing the movement of travelers and vehicles.
The primary objective of the visit is to examine strategies for developing the terminal’s infrastructure and enhancing the quality of services provided. These improvements are intended to ensure smoother transit and alleviate the operational pressure frequently experienced at the crossing. According to an official statement released by the Authority via its Telegram channel, the delegation observed daily operations and discussed proposed plans and projects aimed at modernizing the facility’s infrastructure, as well as identifying the technical and logistical requirements necessary to increase its overall capacity.
Mazen Alloush, Director of the Authority’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation, emphasized that the visit is part of a detailed assessment aimed at establishing development priorities. He noted that these initiatives are designed to improve the terminal’s efficiency and streamline crossing procedures for both travelers and vehicles, in alignment with the growing volume of transit activity.
Data provided by the Authority indicates that the Kasab border crossing recorded the passage of more than 165,000 travelers during the first nine months of the current year. The inspection coincides with ongoing maintenance work, facility modernization projects, and the expansion of operational areas within the terminal. These efforts are part of a broader, long-term plan to update the infrastructure of Syria’s border crossings, ensuring they remain capable of meeting current traffic demands and facilitating the movement of people and goods.
