Camping Enthusiasts Gather at Al-Badrousiyah Beach in Latakia
A group of 35 camping enthusiasts recently convened at Al-Badrousiyah beach, located approximately 60 kilometers north of Latakia, to participate in a communal outdoor experience organized by the ‘Rihla wa Darb’ team. The event, which drew participants from Damascus, Tartus, and Latakia, offered a departure from traditional beach visits, encouraging attendees to immerse themselves in the coastal environment over an extended stay.
Upon arrival, the group completed the setup of their campsite, installing tents along the shoreline. The daytime activities were focused on utilizing the natural coastal resources, with participants engaging in swimming, various water sports, and beach volleyball. As the sun set, the focus shifted to the quiet atmosphere of the coastline, characterized by the rhythmic sounds of the sea and the warmth of a communal campfire, where attendees gathered for socializing, music, and hot beverages.
Wissam Ali, the leader of the ‘Rihla wa Darb’ team, explained that the core objective of the initiative is to provide a more profound connection with nature than a standard day trip allows. By spending the night under the open sky, participants are encouraged to step away from the routines of daily life and rely on the basic facilities provided at the campsite. The organizers noted that the event was scheduled to continue through the morning of Saturday, fostering a sense of community among the diverse group of travelers.
The camping experience also provided an opportunity for participants to observe celestial phenomena. While the team had hoped to witness meteor showers, organizers noted that visibility remained subject to atmospheric conditions and cloud cover. Participants reported mixed results in their stargazing efforts due to partial cloud activity throughout the evening.
Reflecting on the experience, participants highlighted the unique geography of Al-Badrousiyah as a key draw. The location is characterized by a wide sandy beach situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains, creating a distinct coastal landscape.
