Hama Concludes Training Course on Food Safety and Quality Standards

The Hama City Council has officially concluded a nine-day comprehensive training course focused on the critical areas of food safety and quality management. The program, which wrapped up this Wednesday, was designed to improve the operational standards of professionals working across several key agricultural and consumer-facing sectors in the province.
The initiative brought together approximately 25 participants representing various government institutions tasked with monitoring food standards, including the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, as well as departments dedicated to agriculture, the environment, and animal health.
Throughout the duration of the course, experts provided specialized training on essential protocols, including the standardized procedures for collecting food samples for laboratory analysis. Sessions also covered the rigorous technical specifications required for healthy and safe food products, alongside an in-depth analysis of the factors that lead to food spoilage and contamination.
Musaab Al-Diab, a member of the Executive Bureau of the Hama Governorate Council, emphasized the strategic importance of the training. In a statement, he noted that the program is part of a broader effort to elevate the professional competencies of civil servants and technical staff responsible for monitoring the quality of food products available in the local market. By aligning their practices with the latest standards and regulatory updates, officials aim to strengthen the oversight mechanisms that protect consumer health throughout the region.
This training is intended to bridge gaps in current inspection techniques and ensure that the staff managing food safety are equipped with the latest scientific knowledge to identify and mitigate risks. By improving the monitoring of the food supply chain, from the agricultural sector through to final retail, the local authorities seek to bolster consumer confidence in the quality and safety of locally produced and distributed goods.
The conclusion of the course marks a step in the province’s ongoing commitment to improving public health standards. Through continued capacity building of this nature, Hama Governorate aims to modernize its oversight infrastructure, ensuring that food safety protocols are strictly implemented and maintained to meet modern health and quality benchmarks.
