Syrian Atomic Energy Commission Hosts First Nuclear Experts Forum

The Syrian Atomic Energy Commission (SAEC) hosted the first forum for Syrian nuclear energy experts today at its headquarters in Damascus. The event was attended by the head of the Commission, Mudar Al-Aklah, and the Senior Director of the Commission, Ibrahim Haddad, along with a wide range of Syrian scientists and experts in the field from both inside and outside the country.

This forum is part of the Commission’s ongoing strategy to build a comprehensive national network that brings together Syrian scientific competencies and researchers. The primary goal of the event is to establish a solid foundation for the exchange of specialized knowledge and expertise, thereby accelerating scientific research and innovation within the country through the creation of flexible and sustainable channels of cooperation with the Commission.

The Commission’s media office stated that the forum focuses on supporting projects dedicated to the peaceful applications of atomic energy. The discussions highlighted several vital scientific and technical fields that the Commission is working to develop, including nuclear engineering, physics, chemistry, nanomaterial science, nuclear medicine, and radiation safety.

The forum also dedicated significant attention to specialized fields such as biotechnology, molecular biology, geology, and radiopharmacy. These efforts are intended to strengthen national capabilities across these advanced scientific sectors.

This initiative follows the Commission’s announcement on September 16 regarding the launch of the “Syrian Nuclear Energy Experts Platform.” This platform aims to create an interactive environment for Syrian researchers and professionals worldwide, ensuring that Syrian expertise is effectively utilized to develop peaceful atomic energy applications and localize modern technologies within Syrian state institutions to serve the country’s scientific and research objectives.
