Texpo Damascus 2026: Experts Emphasize Cybersecurity and Data Protection

The second edition of the “Texpo International Technology and Innovation Exhibition 2026” concluded at the Damascus Fairgrounds, with participants issuing a strong call for the development of comprehensive cybersecurity and data protection strategies across Syrian public and private institutions.
These recommendations come amid the rapid evolution of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, which have been accompanied by a significant rise in the scale and frequency of cyber threats targeting vital sectors. Attendees underscored the importance of investing in human capital, fostering digital literacy among employees across all professional levels, and localizing advanced technical solutions.
Ammar Al-Sawadi, representing the technology solutions firm “Senadar,” explained that cybersecurity has become a fundamental pillar for ensuring business continuity. He noted that the control and protection of data are no longer optional, but an urgent necessity. Al-Sawadi further highlighted that specialized exhibitions serve as a vital venue for building partnerships between local companies and international entities, providing opportunities to transfer modern technology to the Syrian market to better safeguard official and corporate data.
Omar Suleiman of the cybersecurity firm “Deqat Al-Tafkir” (Precision Thinking) focused on the human element, asserting that training employees on digital security principles should not be limited to technical staff, but should encompass the entire workforce. Suleiman cautioned that small companies may be particularly vulnerable due to limited resources, emphasizing that investment in preventive training helps protect organizations from the severe financial and reputational losses that follow security breaches, which in turn can diminish customer trust.
Malek Al-Dahni, General Manager of “Maya Soft,” pointed out that digital transformation requires organizations to prioritize information security to ensure the continuity of digital services and build confidence within the economic environment. He stressed the need for cooperation among various sectors to develop protective measures that keep pace with rapid technical changes.
Anas Shabeeb, Executive Director of “EGT,” warned against the risks of malware and suspicious links, particularly given the widespread use of social media. He explained that threats could impact critical facilities and service sectors. Shabeeb called for an increased state of readiness through regular awareness programs within Syrian institutions, providing employees with simple, practical guidance on how to identify and avoid electronic fraud and viruses.
The Texpo International Technology and Innovation Exhibition 2026 served as a significant platform for sharing expertise and exploring the latest digital solutions, reflecting an ongoing effort to strengthen local technical capabilities and protect digital infrastructure in Syria.
