Road Rehabilitation Project Commences in Mayadin, Deir ez-Zor

Rehabilitation work has officially commenced on Anas bin Malik Street in the city of Mayadin, located in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. The street serves as a vital artery for the city, connecting the central market area to the Club Roundabout. This project is part of a broader initiative announced by the Mayadin City Council to renovate essential streets and stimulate economic and social activity within the city.
The current phase of the project involves removing old, damaged asphalt layers and conducting a comprehensive overhaul of the underlying infrastructure. This includes upgrading drinking water networks, sewage systems, electrical lines, and telecommunications infrastructure. The project is scheduled to conclude with the installation of uniform paving stones along the sidewalks, a measure intended to improve the urban landscape and ensure the smooth flow of both pedestrians and vehicles.
Mohannad Al-Hussein, head of the Mayadin City Council, emphasized the economic and social importance of the street to the city. He noted that work crews and supervisory committees are intensifying their efforts on-site to ensure the project meets the required quality standards. The council is prioritizing completion within the current month, aiming to finalize the works before the onset of winter, which could otherwise hinder construction activities.
Project supervisor Engineer Sawsan Al-Jassim stated that the work is directly aimed at addressing significant structural damage and long-standing excavations on the road. These conditions had previously hampered daily civilian movement, contributed to dust pollution, and created general transportation difficulties. This renovation is part of a wider effort by local authorities to enhance services and improve infrastructure quality across the governorate.
These activities are consistent with broader regional initiatives to improve road safety. In early October, the Deir ez-Zor branch of the General Establishment for Road Transport launched maintenance and rehabilitation efforts on the new Deir ez-Zor–Mayadin road, focusing on repairing damaged sections to facilitate safer and more efficient travel for citizens.
