Rehabilitation Works Begin on Water Well in Hama’s Kernaz

The General Company for Water and Sanitation in Hama Governorate has officially launched rehabilitation works on the Western Well in the city of Kernaz. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the local community, is part of a broader effort to improve the quality of drinking water services and meet the needs of residents by enhancing the efficiency of the city’s water supply network.

Eng. Abdul Sattar Al-Ali, Director of the General Company for Water and Sanitation, stated that the project focuses on equipping the well with the necessary mechanical and electrical components to ensure sustainable and effective operation. These technical upgrades are expected to increase the volume of water available to the city’s population.

Detailing the developmental scope of the project, Al-Ali noted that plans are underway to rehabilitate the solar energy systems connected to the well in the near future. This reflects a strategic shift toward utilizing renewable energy sources to ensure the consistent and uninterrupted pumping of water. Furthermore, the engineering and civil works include the installation of essential connections to the main pumping line, as well as the construction of a protective fence around the energy systems to safeguard the technical equipment.

This project serves as a continuation of the Hama Water Establishment’s ongoing efforts to enhance water infrastructure throughout the region. Last year, the company successfully completed a vital project to rehabilitate the drinking water network in Kernaz in partnership with the organization “Solidarity.” These latest efforts are part of a sustained drive to improve essential services and overcome the challenges currently facing the water sector in the governorate, ensuring the stability of supplies for the residents of Kernaz and its surrounding areas.
