Rehabilitation Work Begins on Granada-Kafrnan Bridge in Homs
The Syrian Construction and Building Company’s Homs branch has officially begun rehabilitation work on the Granada-Kafrnan bridge. Situated over the Orontes River in the northern countryside of Homs, this strategic project is designed to upgrade local road infrastructure, enhance traffic safety, and facilitate the movement of residents and vehicles between the Al-Houla and Al-Rastan areas and their surrounding villages.
This initiative is part of ongoing national efforts to restore infrastructure damaged in previous years. The bridge serves as a vital artery for the region, supporting essential services and the local agricultural sector. The engineering works aim to restore the bridge to full operational service, ensuring smooth traffic flow and improving access for residents to essential services and the transport of agricultural produce between village clusters.
Engineer Nasr Mustafa, the project supervisor from the Syrian Construction and Building Company, stated that the cost of the project is estimated at 38 million Syrian pounds. The implementation process is expected to take approximately 200 days. Mustafa noted that work crews have already begun clearing rubble and damaged sections of the structure, preparing the site for the subsequent construction phases. These phases will involve the installation of concrete pillars, foundations, and pre-cast girders, which will be fabricated on-site to ensure strict compliance with the required technical specifications.
Engineer Ali Joudou from the Homs Technical Services Directorate, which is overseeing the study and implementation of the project, emphasized that the bridge will have a significant positive impact on the residents of the northern countryside. By reconnecting the agricultural production areas in Al-Houla with neighboring regions, the bridge serves as a critical link for the local economy.
Samer Mansour, head of the Granada Municipality Council, added that the project addresses the urgent daily transportation needs of the local population. Residents of the area have expressed their support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of the bridge in improving their daily lives and reconnecting their communities.
These works are part of a broader series of development projects currently being implemented by relevant authorities in Homs Governorate. The overarching goal of these efforts is to restore the network of roads and bridges to enhance geographical and service connectivity in rural areas, thereby supporting the economic and social stability of the region through an improved local transport network.
