Israeli Artillery Strikes Quneitra Countryside

Quneitra Province witnessed a new military escalation on Sunday as Israeli forces targeted the forest area of Bir Ajam village, located in the northern countryside of Quneitra, with heavy artillery. According to field reports, three artillery shells struck the area. There have been no reports of human casualties resulting from the shelling.

This incident is part of a series of recent field violations carried out by Israeli forces in southern Syria. On Friday, the outskirts of Al-Hamidiyah town in the Quneitra countryside were subjected to similar shelling. This coincided with an attack on the Bat al-Warda hill in the vicinity of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside, which was also struck by several artillery shells.

These military actions are viewed as a continuous violation of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, which is intended to regulate the security situation in southern Syria. Recent Israeli incursions in the area have included land leveling, raids on civilian homes, arrest campaigns, and direct artillery bombardment targeting various locations in border villages.

For its part, the Syrian state continues to affirm its rejection of these aggressive practices. Damascus maintains that all actions taken by Israel in southern Syria are null and void, holding no legal standing under international law. Furthermore, Damascus has renewed its call for the international community to take immediate action to compel Israel to halt its attacks and withdraw completely from the territory of southern Syria. The Syrian government asserts that the continuation of these violations destabilizes the region and contravenes international laws and charters.
