Hama Cement Plant 3 Prepares to Resume Production Next Month

The relevant authorities have announced the completion of the first phase of the investment contract for Hama Cement Plant 3. This milestone marks a key step toward restarting the facility and resuming production early next month, following a shutdown that has lasted for several years. The move is part of broader efforts to revitalize the Syrian industrial sector and meet the rising demand for building materials required for reconstruction projects.

The initial phase of rehabilitation, carried out by the investing company, Al-Khala, focused on readying the packing department and cement mills, alongside securing imported clinker to ensure the production process is prepared. Currently, the production line is undergoing comprehensive preparation under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Industry to ensure that all operations align with the required technical standards.

Ammar Al-Sheikh, an official on the investment contract oversight committee, stated that the plant previously operated with a limited production capacity of no more than 2,100 tons of clinker. He explained that the current investment plan is structured in four stages. The second phase will mark the start of trial operations early next month, with an initial daily production capacity of 3,300 tons.

Following the trial phase, capacity is expected to increase to 5,000 tons during the third stage. The fourth stage will involve the installation of a new production line with a capacity of 6,000 tons, bringing the plant’s total daily production capacity to 11,000 tons.

Abdul Basit Ahmed, the director of Hama Cement Plant 3, noted that the rehabilitation works have upgraded the cement mills, enabling them to produce most types of cement at a capacity of up to 3,500 tons per day. He added that maintenance work on the material mill and the kiln remains ongoing.

Alaa Al-Sahn, media office director at Al-Khala, highlighted that the company took over the plant under challenging technical and production conditions. He emphasized that the primary goal of these investments is to address the cement deficit in the Syrian market and support the requirements of the country’s reconstruction phase. As a vital facility within Syria’s cement industry, the return of Hama Cement Plant 3 serves as a key pillar in strengthening the local supply of this strategic material and supporting the national economy by enhancing the production capabilities of public sector infrastructure.
