Baniyas Prepares for Rainy Season by Clearing 15km of Waterways

As part of proactive measures to prepare for the upcoming rainy season, local authorities in the Baniyas area of Tartus Governorate have announced that the regional network of rivers and water drainage systems has reached full operational readiness. This initiative is designed to ensure the smooth flow of water and prevent flooding or blockages in primary channels during the winter months.

The maintenance efforts encompassed extensive clearing and cleaning operations spanning 15 kilometers. These works focused on the most critical drainage channels, which are vital for the region’s infrastructure. By clearing these pathways, authorities aim to protect water infrastructure and mitigate the risk of damage typically caused by heavy rainfall and the accumulation of storm runoff.

These activities are part of periodic maintenance plans implemented by service institutions across Tartus Governorate. These initiatives are carried out prior to the onset of winter to enhance the operational capacity of public utilities.
