Al-Shaibani and Safadi Discuss Strengthening Syrian-Jordanian Relations

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani held official talks today, Thursday, in the Jordanian city of Aqaba with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, Ayman Safadi. The discussions centered on various ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations across multiple sectors.

During the meeting, the two ministers addressed matters of mutual interest and explored necessary steps to solidify cooperation in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries. A primary focus of the deliberations was the preparation for the upcoming third session of the Higher Coordination Council, which is scheduled to be held in the Syrian capital, Damascus, next month.

The Higher Coordination Council serves as a strategic framework designed to enhance governmental coordination between Syria and Jordan. Ministers Al-Shaibani and Safadi reviewed the proposed agenda and discussed topics intended for the meeting to ensure that the session yields tangible results, ultimately contributing to the advancement of political and economic relations.

Beyond bilateral ties, the ministers examined the latest developments in Syria and the broader region, discussing the implications of these situations on both nations. Both sides emphasized the necessity of maintaining intensive political consultation and coordination during this period to ensure regional stability and bolster the security of both countries. They underscored the importance of concerted efforts to address current regional challenges in alignment with a shared vision for regional stability.

These discussions take place within the framework of ongoing diplomatic openness between Syria and its neighboring countries. The meetings highlight the significant role of the Higher Coordination Council in propelling bilateral relations toward new levels, particularly as preparations continue for the anticipated coordination summit in Damascus. This upcoming summit is expected to mark a pivotal moment in the trajectory of Syrian-Jordanian cooperation.
