12 Injured in Traffic Accidents and Fires Across Syria
Over the past 24 hours, Syrian civil defense teams, operating under the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, responded to a series of field incidents across the country that left 12 people injured.
According to reports released by civil defense authorities on Tuesday, emergency teams attended to 15 traffic accidents in various regions. These incidents resulted in 11 people sustaining injuries of varying severity. First responders provided immediate medical aid at the scenes before transporting the injured to hospitals for specialized treatment. In addition to medical assistance, teams worked to clear debris and secure roadways to ensure the safety of traffic flow.
In a separate series of incidents, firefighting and rescue teams were dispatched to 58 fires reported in diverse locations. The blazes affected residential homes and commercial shops, as well as dry grass, trees, refuse sites, and electrical wiring. These incidents resulted in one injury, with the individual receiving immediate medical attention. The fires also caused material damage to private property.
Following these events, the civil defense issued strict warnings to drivers, emphasizing the necessity of caution and vigilance. Authorities urged motorists to reduce speed and conduct regular maintenance checks on their vehicles, with specific attention to braking systems and windshield wipers. Drivers were also reminded to avoid distractions, particularly the use of mobile phones while operating a vehicle.
Regarding fire safety, the civil defense urged citizens to refrain from lighting fires in forested areas and agricultural fields. Residents were cautioned against the disposal of cigarette butts or glass containers along public roads, as these pose a direct risk of igniting fires. Furthermore, the authorities emphasized the importance of not burning dry grass near homes, advising that such vegetation should be removed using safe methods to prevent the spread of flames.
These reports follow a preceding period during which teams responded to 18 traffic accidents in various parts of the country, which left 17 people injured. This uptick in incidents has prompted intensified official warnings concerning public safety and accident prevention measures throughout Syria.
