Temporary Municipal Councils Formed in Rural Al-Hasakah

Al-Hasakah Governor Nour al-Din Ahmed issued a series of administrative decisions on Thursday to establish temporary municipal councils across several towns in the province’s rural areas. This move is part of ongoing efforts to maintain administrative and service functions, ensuring that the daily needs of citizens are met within the jurisdiction of each municipality until the necessary legal procedures for local council elections are completed.

The newly formed councils are based on directives and coordination with the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment. The establishment of these executive offices applies to the municipal councils of the following towns: Tal Tamr, Sikar Fawqani, Al-Qayrawan, Khas Janoubi, Al-Hol, Abu Hujayrah, Al-Khatuniyah, and Khatuniyah al-Bahra.

These councils are tasked with exercising the powers and responsibilities assigned to municipalities in accordance with existing laws and regulations. This is intended to ensure the regular operation of administrative units and the continued provision of essential services to residents in these areas.

These decisions serve as a follow-up to recent administrative actions taken by the Al-Hasakah provincial authorities. On the 7th of this month, the Governor issued two separate decrees forming temporary executive offices for the municipal councils of Qamishli and Ras al-Ain.

This trend underscores the commitment of local authorities to secure the stability of administrative operations across the province and to overcome obstacles that might otherwise hinder the delivery of public and essential services under current conditions. Furthermore, these measures are designed to pave the way for completing the democratic process regarding local elections once the appropriate procedural circumstances are in place.
