Tadef Begins Rehabilitation of Local Sports Stadium

The city council of Tadef, located in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, has officially launched a rehabilitation project for the city’s primary sports stadium. The facility, which served as a central hub for athletes and local residents before the conflict, was left in a state of severe disrepair due to repeated shelling and combat operations during the years of the war.
Omar Ahmad Al-Omar, head of the Tadef City Council, confirmed that the project was initiated in direct response to persistent requests from the local sporting community and residents of the city and its surrounding areas. The objective is to restore the facility’s functionality, allowing the town’s youth and athletes to resume their activities and participate in local sports programs once again.
Preliminary work began this week, focusing on the immediate removal and clearing of debris and rubble that had accumulated both inside the stadium and in its immediate vicinity. Following the site clearance, crews are currently undertaking the grading and leveling of the ground surface. In addition to preparing the pitch area, the project includes the repair and reinforcement of the stadium’s perimeter wall, which sustained significant structural damage.
Al-Omar highlighted the extensive nature of the destruction, noting that the venue had been targeted on multiple occasions by various types of weaponry throughout the conflict. These repeated attacks caused widespread damage to the city’s broader infrastructure, particularly impacting municipal service facilities and sports venues that were integral to the community’s social fabric.
The current cleanup and restoration efforts serve as a foundational phase for the project. According to the city council, a subsequent stage of the development will focus on the reconstruction of essential infrastructure and the modernization of the stadium’s facilities. This later phase is intended to ensure that the completed venue meets the current needs and safety standards for the athletes and the broader population of Tadef.
The restoration of the stadium is seen as a key step in the city’s ongoing efforts to revitalize public spaces and restore normalcy to the daily lives of its citizens. The Tadef City Council remains committed to coordinating further construction efforts to ensure that the project is completed in a manner that best serves the residents of the Aleppo countryside.
