Syrian Foreign Ministry Delegation Tours Damascus International Fair
A high-level delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has conducted an extensive tour of the 63rd edition of the Damascus International Fair, currently being hosted at the Damascus Fairgrounds. The visit aimed to assess the participation of various state institutions and private sector entities in what remains the country’s premier economic event.
During the tour, the delegation visited several pavilions, including the ministry’s own exhibit, as well as those of various government agencies and private companies. Members of the delegation received detailed briefings on the range of products and services on display, while exploring potential avenues for cooperation and partnerships across various developmental and economic sectors.
Speaking to the press during the event, the Ministry’s Advisor for Arab Affairs, Mohammed Al-Ahmad, highlighted the significant advancements in this year’s iteration of the fair compared to previous years. He emphasized that the robust participation of official bodies—such as the ministries of foreign affairs, defense, and the interior—underscores the enhanced role these institutions have played in recent times. According to Al-Ahmad, this collective presence strengthens the visibility of the state’s institutional framework.
Al-Ahmad further observed that the Damascus International Fair has evolved beyond its traditional role as a purely economic gathering. He described the event as a multifaceted platform that integrates cultural, social, and political dimensions. Characterizing the fair as a vital “window for Syria toward the world,” he underscored the importance of the international momentum observed throughout the current edition.
The 63rd Damascus International Fair, held under the theme “Syria Shines Again,” is scheduled to run until September 4. The event features the participation of approximately 1,000 entities, reflecting a broad effort to bolster Syria’s domestic and international economic and commercial presence. The high turnout of visitors and participants alike serves to highlight the ongoing interest in identifying new investment opportunities and collaborative prospects within the Syrian market.
As the fair continues, the government maintains a focus on utilizing such platforms to project a stable image of institutional functionality and economic potential. The diverse range of participants, spanning from core service ministries to industrial and commercial enterprises, remains a focal point for organizers aiming to drive long-term development and facilitate recovery initiatives in the post-conflict landscape.
