Quneitra Awqaf Honors Winners of First Quranic Competition
The Quneitra Directorate of Awqaf held a ceremony on Saturday to honor 30 students who achieved top honors in the first province-wide Quranic competition. The event, hosted at Al-Hassan Mosque in the town of Khan Arnabah, marked a significant milestone in the directorate’s ongoing efforts to promote Islamic studies and Quranic education among the region’s youth.
Anas Al-Sari, the Director of Quneitra Awqaf, highlighted the high level of interest in the initiative, noting that the competition saw 150 female students and 90 male students participate. He emphasized that the primary goal of the event is to elevate the standard of students enrolled in Quranic study circles and to provide them with greater motivation to memorize and recite the Quran.
According to Al-Sari, the directorate is already incorporating future development paths for top-performing students. These plans aim to provide specialized training to prepare participants for wider competitions at the provincial level. Ultimately, the directorate intends to prepare these students to represent Quneitra on the national Quranic team, which competes in various international events across several Islamic countries.
Mohammad Farhan Al-Doumani, head of the Educational Circles Department at the Directorate of Awqaf, outlined the structure of the competition. The event was divided into five distinct levels, catering to different capabilities and academic stages. These categories ranged from the full memorization of the Holy Quran to the memorization of specific portions, including twenty, ten, five, and three sections (juz’). This tiered approach allowed a broad range of students to participate according to their individual memorization skills.
The Quneitra Directorate of Awqaf first announced the launch of the competition on August 27. The initiative is part of a broader commitment to fostering Quranic study circles and enhancing educational and pedagogical processes within local mosques. These efforts are designed to instill values of tolerance and structured learning, while simultaneously refining students’ skills in various fields of Quranic science.
