Official Funeral Held for Fallen Security Officer in Daraa

Residents of Daraa city gathered on Sunday to hold a formal and public funeral for Mohammad Ahmed Al-Miqdad, a member of the road security forces. The procession began at the Musab bin Umair Mosque in the Al-Kashef neighborhood and was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Interior, commanders of the road security apparatus, and a large number of local citizens. Following the ceremony, the body of the fallen officer was transported to the city of Busra al-Sham for final burial rites.

Al-Miqdad was killed during an armed attack that targeted a road security checkpoint in the Busra al-Sham area of the eastern countryside of Daraa. The incident also resulted in injuries to another security officer. The funeral service took place as local security authorities continue their operations in the region to address the aftermath of the assault.

In a related development, the Internal Security Forces announced via their official Telegram channel that specialized units successfully apprehended those involved in the attack following a direct confrontation with the perpetrators. Official sources confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident and the motives behind the targeting of the security checkpoint. These measures are part of broader ongoing efforts by security agencies to bolster safety and stability within the Daraa governorate.
