New Judicial Complex Opens in Adra al-Balad, Rif Dimashq

The Syrian Ministry of Justice officially inaugurated a new judicial complex in the town of Adra al-Balad, Rif Dimashq, on Monday. The facility was opened following the completion of rehabilitation works conducted in cooperation with the local community. The project is part of a state initiative aimed at strengthening the infrastructure of judicial institutions and ensuring that citizens can access legal services with greater efficiency.
Samer Qaddour, head of the Rif Dimashq Judiciary, explained that the relocation of judicial operations from the Adra Industrial City to Adra al-Balad is intended primarily to reduce the burden of travel for local residents. Qaddour noted that the complex is equipped to provide a wide spectrum of legal services, including Sharia, civil, and criminal matters. The facility will serve residents of Adra al-Balad, the Industrial City, Hufayr al-Tahta, the Workers’ City, and surrounding areas.
Mohammad Katiba, head of the judicial complex, detailed the facility’s vital departments, which include the Public Prosecution, the Investigation Department, the Civil Court of First Instance, and the Civil and Criminal Conciliation Courts. The building also houses the Sharia Department, the Criminal Court of First Instance, and the Notary Public office. Katiba emphasized that operations are being conducted based on principles of transparency, integrity, and credibility, with a commitment to continuously improving work procedures to provide a suitable environment for judges and ensure the prompt completion of citizens’ legal transactions.
Mohammad Ali al-Khader, head of the Adra Town Council of Notables, highlighted that the rehabilitation and equipping of the building were the result of productive collaboration between the local community, the municipal council, and the Ministry of Justice, all working to prepare the new headquarters for public service.
The initiative has been welcomed by local residents and community leaders, who pointed out that the new complex will save citizens significant time and effort compared to their previous need to travel to the Adra Industrial City for legal matters. Residents expressed their hope that the coming period would see an expansion in the services provided to meet all their judicial requirements.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mohammad Ali Amer, director of the Eastern Ghouta area, representing the Governor of Rif Dimashq, alongside various judges, officials, and community representatives. This project is part of a series of government initiatives to reactivate and rehabilitate service and judicial facilities across Rif Dimashq. Notably, a civil registry office was opened in the town of Hammouriyeh in Eastern Ghouta on the 24th of this month, reflecting a sustained effort to facilitate the completion of official documentation for the public.
