Temperatures Drop Across Syria With Potential for Rain

Syria saw a significant drop in temperatures on Friday, with values falling 1 to 3 degrees Celsius below the usual seasonal averages across the country. According to the National Center for Meteorology, weather conditions are characterized by partly cloudy skies that may become overcast at times. There is a strong possibility of scattered rain showers appearing in various regions throughout the country.

Forecasters noted that these rainfall events may become heavy at times, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, particularly in the coastal areas, the northern regions, and the Al-Jazeera region. Residents in these areas are advised to remain alert to potential weather shifts.

As night falls, the weather is expected to trend toward being mild to cool in general, turning relatively cold in mountainous regions. Humidity levels are expected to rise significantly across all provinces. The meteorological office has issued a warning regarding the formation of fog during the late night and early morning hours, particularly in the central and northern regions, as well as in the Qalamoun area and the Damascus Ghouta. This fog may become dense in some locations, potentially impacting visibility.

Wind patterns are shifting as well, blowing from the northeast to the northwest in the eastern regions and Al-Jazeera, while southwesterly winds are affecting the rest of the Syrian territory. Wind speeds are generally moderate, though active gusts may exceed 40 km/h in certain areas. This wind activity is expected to stir up dust locally in the eastern and southern regions, as well as the Syrian Badia. Meanwhile, sea conditions are expected to remain light to moderate.

The recorded maximum and minimum temperatures for today are as follows: Damascus (13/24), Rif Dimashq-Qalamoun (10/20), Quneitra (11/21), Daraa (12/27), As-Suwayda (13/24), Homs (14/25), Hama (14/25), Latakia (20/22), Tartus (18/25), Aleppo (15/24), Idlib (15/24), Deir ez-Zor (23/29), Raqqa (17/26), and Al-Hasakah (18/26).
