Illegal Fuel-Mixing Facility Shut Down in Rural Daraa

As part of ongoing efforts to regulate the domestic market and combat violations affecting the energy and fuel sectors, authorities in Daraa Governorate have raided and dismantled an illegal facility dedicated to the illicit mixing of fuel in the rural countryside.
This operation is part of a series of measures being implemented by relevant authorities to curb unlawful activities that compromise the quality of petroleum products and cause damage to consumers and their vehicles. Preliminary investigations revealed that the facility had been operating clandestinely, bypassing official oversight. The operators were mixing fuel using methods that failed to meet standard specifications, a move described by officials as a serious violation of the laws governing the distribution and handling of petroleum products in the country.
Following the raid, security and regulatory authorities shut down the site and confiscated all materials and equipment used in the illegal blending process. The relevant authorities have initiated investigations into the individuals responsible for the facility, with the intent to refer them to the judiciary to face legal proceedings in accordance with applicable regulations.
Government authorities in Daraa have emphasized their commitment to continuing these regulatory campaigns to track down all forms of tampering within the fuel sector. They stressed that the crackdown on such centers is essential for protecting citizens’ rights, preserving the integrity of vehicle engines, and ensuring the quality of materials available in the local market. Furthermore, authorities have called upon the public to report any suspicious activities that may threaten public safety or undermine the local economy.
This action comes amidst significant challenges currently facing Syria’s energy sector. Official institutions remain focused on curbing illegal practices and ensuring that petroleum products reach those entitled to them according to the required standards, free from the fraud and tampering employed by some individuals.
