Eight Rescued from Drowning at Tartus Dream Beach

Rescue teams from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in Tartus successfully conducted critical life-saving operations at Dream Beach this Friday. During the response, personnel managed to rescue eight individuals from drowning and ensured their safety.

In addition to the water rescues, the team also located two children who had been reported missing on the beach. Both children were provided with necessary assistance and reunited with their families in good health.

Maad Khadr, a trainer for the marine rescue team, stated to local media that the response was immediate upon receiving reports of drowning incidents or missing children. He noted that the field crews implemented all necessary emergency and preventive measures to ensure the safety of beachgoers.

These incidents occurred against a backdrop of official warnings issued by the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management on Thursday evening. The ministry alerted the public to unstable sea conditions along the Syrian coast, forecasting increased wind speeds and higher waves from Friday morning until dawn on Sunday, September 20. Authorities have urged fishermen and owners of small boats to postpone sailing and have emphasized the importance of avoiding swimming to prevent loss of life during these volatile weather conditions.

The beaches of Tartus Governorate have seen a series of drowning incidents throughout the current summer season, resulting in both fatalities and disappearances. Recent tragedies include the death of a fisherman on September 12 and a separate incident in June that claimed the lives of two young men. Competent authorities continue to stress the necessity for beachgoers to adhere to marine safety guidelines and refrain from the risk of swimming when warnings regarding sea turbulence or high waves are in effect, aiming to prevent further such tragedies and ensure a safe summer season for all.
