Moderate Summer Weather Expected Across Syria With Scattered Rain
Syria is experiencing a shift in weather patterns this weekend as a moderate air mass moves across the country, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures. According to the National Center for Meteorology, this shift is particularly evident in the northern, eastern, and Al-Jazeera regions, where temperatures are expected to hover around or slightly below their seasonal averages. The influence of this moderate air mass is projected to persist until the middle of next week.
During daylight hours, the weather is expected to remain generally pleasant, oscillating between sunny and partly cloudy conditions across most provinces. While the eastern regions and the Al-Jazeera area are anticipated to remain relatively warm, other parts of the country will see more temperate conditions. The forecast also indicates a persistent chance of scattered rain showers, primarily affecting coastal areas, the northern regions, the southwestern territories, and the Qalamoun area. Additionally, residents in the eastern regions, the Al-Jazeera area, and the Badia desert should be prepared for hazy, dusty conditions due to the prevailing atmospheric state.
As night falls, the weather is expected to be generally moderate, offering cool and pleasant conditions, particularly in the mountainous regions. High humidity levels are anticipated to persist throughout the night in the western and southern parts of the country. Motorists and local residents in parts of the central region are advised to be cautious during the early morning hours, as light fog may form, potentially affecting visibility.
The wind flow, moving from the west to the southwest, is described as light to moderate, though it is expected to strengthen during the afternoon and evening hours. Gusts may reach speeds exceeding 60 kilometers per hour, particularly in the central region, which is likely to result in dust being kicked up in some internal areas. Maritime conditions remain stable, with the sea characterized by moderate wave heights.
Official temperature data highlights the variation across the country. Damascus and Daraa are seeing highs around 35°C, while inland regions such as Hama and Aleppo are reporting highs of 34°C. In contrast, the eastern provinces of Deir ez-Zor and Al-Hasakah continue to experience higher temperatures, with peak readings reaching 39°C. Cooler conditions prevail in the Qalamoun region, with a high of 28°C, and moderate temperatures are observed in the coastal cities of Latakia and Tartus, where the mercury is reaching 32°C. This period of meteorological transition provides a respite from earlier summer heat, with the moderate conditions expected to continue as the country heads into the middle of the upcoming week.
