Syrian, Czech Business Representatives Discuss Economic Cooperation
Representatives from the Syrian and Czech business communities convened in Damascus on Wednesday to discuss strategies for deepening economic, commercial, and investment ties between the two nations. The meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, highlighted a mutual interest in fostering closer communication and cooperation between the private sectors of both countries.
Anas al-Bo, head of the Foreign Relations Committee at the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, met with Abd al-Wahab al-Kurdi, representing the Czech Chamber of Commerce, to review the current landscape of bilateral relations. A primary focus of the discussion was the proposed establishment of a Syrian-Czech Business Council. This body is intended to serve as a formal platform for coordinating collaboration, identifying investment opportunities, and facilitating the exchange of professional expertise between businesses in Syria and the Czech Republic.
Both sides engaged in detailed talks regarding the practical steps required to formalize their cooperation, including the potential signing of a memorandum of understanding between the relevant authorities. Such an agreement would aim to create a clear, structured framework for economic engagement and long-term partnership. As part of these efforts, the parties explored the possibility of organizing an official visit by a Czech economic and trade delegation to Damascus. This visit would allow representatives to gain firsthand insight into the Syrian market, evaluate available investment opportunities, and identify specific sectors for joint development.
During the discussions, al-Bo emphasized the necessity of activating consistent communication channels with the Czech business community.
