Al-Hasakah Public Prosecutor Inspects Ghwayran Central Prison

The Public Prosecutor of Al-Hasakah Governorate, Judge Ghazi Al-Sheikh Ibrahim, conducted an inspection tour of the Ghwayran Central Prison. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to monitor the judicial and service conditions within the governorate’s correctional facilities. The tour served as a field assessment to directly observe the status of inmates, identify their needs, and listen to their concerns.
In his statements regarding the visit, Judge Al-Sheikh Ibrahim explained that the primary objective is to conduct a meticulous review of the judicial files concerning the prisoners. This process aims to facilitate the necessary legal procedures and ensure that judicial operations strictly adhere to the country’s established laws and regulations. The Public Prosecutor further confirmed that all inmate files have been officially referred to the Public Prosecution office in Al-Hasakah, where they are now under direct supervision for thorough examination and follow-up.
Ghwayran Central Prison remains a critical facility within the governorate. Currently, the institution houses more than 500 inmates. The legal status of these individuals varies between those who have received final judicial sentences and are currently serving their terms, and those who remain in detention pending further investigation and trial.
These measures are part of a broader initiative by judicial authorities to uphold the rights of inmates. By monitoring files on a regular and systematic basis, the administration seeks to ensure transparency in all legal procedures implemented within central prisons across Syria.
