Syrian Post Takes Over Facilities in Aleppo, Raqqa and Al-Hasakah

The Syrian Post has officially announced the transfer of postal offices that were previously operated by the Turkish Post across several areas in the provinces of Aleppo, Raqqa, and Al-Hasakah. This transition is part of a coordinated effort between the two sides, aimed at reclaiming management of these facilities and reactivating them to provide essential postal and financial services to residents in those regions.
In an official statement, the Syrian Post highlighted the significance of this move, describing it as a step toward strengthening institutional and strategic cooperation. The institution explained that the handover paves the way for the resumption of a wide range of services, including postal and financial operations, as well as the coordination of international money transfers and aid-related efforts. The Syrian Post emphasized that these measures are being carried out in accordance with established frameworks and agreements designed to serve mutual interests and improve service delivery in the affected areas.
The Syrian Post also expressed its appreciation for the role played by the Turkish Post in these regions over the past periods. The statement noted that the support provided during challenging times was valued, particularly regarding the provision of reliable communication methods, facilitation of aid reception, and the delivery of shipping, e-commerce, and money transfer services previously facilitated by PTT branches in northern Syria.
This development is part of a broader series of understandings between the two parties. In September 2025, the Syrian Post signed a memorandum of understanding with the Turkish side to enhance cooperation in vital areas, including shipping, e-commerce, and the exchange of technical and administrative expertise. The agreement also focuses on developing logistical infrastructure and improving distribution channels. Furthermore, it seeks to utilize joint facilities to facilitate import and export operations, thereby supporting the local economy and stimulating commercial activity by simplifying postal and logistical procedures.
The handover of these postal offices marks an important step toward formalizing administrative and institutional coordination. The effort is focused on utilizing this infrastructure to ensure that services reach citizens more effectively, acting as a continuation of state-led efforts to develop the telecommunications and postal sector in line with national strategic plans.
