Syrian Health Ministry Opens Registration for ‘Basar 5’ Eye Campaign

The Syrian Ministry of Health has officially announced the commencement of registration for patients wishing to benefit from the “Basar 5” surgical campaign. This initiative is dedicated to the removal of cataracts (white cataracts) in the Damascus governorate and aligns with the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance specialized medical services across Syrian provinces.
The Ministry confirmed that the campaign is being conducted in collaboration with the Al-Basar International Foundation, with support from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre. The surgical procedures are scheduled to take place between November 14 and 20. The primary objective of this initiative is to provide high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services for ophthalmic patients. By doing so, the campaign aims to help reduce waiting lists at public hospitals and ensure that essential healthcare reaches a broader segment of the population.
To streamline the registration process, the Ministry of Health has invited those eligible to take advantage of these free medical services to scan a provided QR code or visit a dedicated electronic link accessible through the Ministry’s official Telegram channel.
This campaign is part of a broader series of medical initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Health in partnership with various international and regional humanitarian organizations. Several similar efforts have been carried out in other provinces recently. For instance, in July, a free campaign for cataract treatment was conducted at the Raqqa National Hospital. Furthermore, the Quneitra Health Directorate recently announced the launch of a similar campaign at the Golan National Hospital, which seeks to enable patients to restore their vision through specialized surgical procedures.
These ongoing efforts reflect the Syrian Ministry of Health’s commitment to improving the quality of medical services and expanding the scope of healthcare coverage in regions requiring specialized surgical interventions. These initiatives rely on strategic partnerships aimed at providing direct medical support to citizens and alleviating their financial burdens under current conditions.
