Syrian Chambers of Commerce Union Restructures Import-Export Committee

The President of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce Union, Alaa Al-Ali, has issued an administrative decision to restructure the membership of the Union’s Import-Export Committee. The move, formalized under Administrative Resolution No. 17 of 2026, follows directives established by the Union’s Board of Directors during its session held on April 13. The restructuring is intended to serve the public interest by organizing and developing commercial operations.
Under the new leadership, Anas Deeb Joud has been appointed as the Chairman of the committee. The committee’s membership now includes Abdul Qader Mohammed Tahan, representing the Syrian Exporters Council, alongside Ayman Mutee Rslan, Maher Suleiman Zein, Omar Mohammed Wazzan, and Shafiq Mohammed Danoura. This new composition reflects the Union’s strategic effort to integrate a wide range of expertise from various import and export sectors, aiming to enhance the committee’s effectiveness in carrying out its mandates.
At the end of May, the Syrian Chambers of Commerce Union outlined the specific tasks delegated to this committee. These responsibilities focus primarily on conducting comprehensive studies of the current status of imports and exports in Syria. Additionally, the committee is tasked with closely monitoring the challenges and obstacles encountered by traders, importers, and exporters within both local and international markets.
The committee’s mandate also includes proposing practical solutions and recommendations to facilitate foreign trade, while actively following up on these proposals in direct coordination with relevant government authorities to overcome identified difficulties. A key priority for the committee is the development of Syrian exports through strategies aimed at accessing new markets for national products. These efforts are designed to bolster the competitiveness of Syrian goods in regional and global markets.
This administrative adjustment is part of the Union’s ongoing commitment to improving the business environment and supporting the Syrian commercial sector amidst current economic conditions.
