The Syrian Arab Republic participated on Monday in the 13th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (COP13). The event is currently being held at the United Nations headquarters in the Austrian capital, Vienna.
The Syrian delegation attending these international proceedings is led by the Ministry of Interior, represented by Brigadier General Abdul Rahim Jabara, Director of the International Cooperation Department. This participation aligns with Syria’s commitment to engaging in international efforts and fostering cooperation with United Nations bodies to address shared security challenges.
The current session of the conference focuses on discussing the mechanisms and practical steps taken by member states to enhance legal and security cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime. These discussions encompass vital issues related to international, regional, and national security.
The involvement of the Syrian delegation reflects the state’s interest in strengthening communication with the international community regarding legal and security-related files. It also highlights the importance of exchanging perspectives on the most effective methods to combat criminal activities that cross national borders and impact the security and stability of nations.
Throughout the conference, participating countries are scheduled to present their national experiences and aspirations for developing shared coordination mechanisms. These efforts are intended to align with the articles of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, ensuring greater effectiveness in confronting criminal networks and reducing the risks they pose at both regional and international levels.
