Quneitra: Final Phase of Nabaa al-Fawwar Road Rehabilitation Begins

The Technical Services Directorate in Quneitra Governorate launched the second and final phase of road rehabilitation works on Tuesday. The project involves paving a two-kilometer stretch connecting the Damascus-Quneitra highway to the village of Nabaa al-Fawwar. This initiative is part of the governorate’s broader efforts to improve the local road network and strengthen infrastructure, falling under the “Our Golan Deserves It” campaign.

Jassem al-Jassem, Head of the Roads Department at the directorate, confirmed that the project is a direct response to requests from local residents. He emphasized the vital importance of the road in facilitating traffic flow and reducing travel time between various villages and towns. According to al-Jassem, the route serves as a strategic connection between the industrial zone and the main Damascus highway. He further noted that technical crews are working at full capacity to ensure the project meets all required technical specifications and is completed within the established timeframe.

Mahmoud Ghannoum, the project supervisor, provided technical details regarding the ongoing works. He stated that the current phase involves laying an asphalt layer two kilometers long and 7.5 meters wide, with a thickness of seven centimeters. Ghannoum affirmed that these specific standards were selected to ensure the road’s durability, allowing it to withstand heavy traffic and the substantial transport loads expected in the region.

In the same context, the Director of Technical Services in the governorate, Shehadeh al-Arnous, highlighted that this project complements the first phase, which involved rehabilitating the governorate’s northeastern entrance toward Nabaa al-Fawwar. Al-Arnous noted that all projects undertaken by the Technical Services Directorate, including those nearing completion, are now being conducted under the umbrella of the “Our Golan Deserves It” campaign, which aims to improve public services across all areas of the governorate.

The Technical Services Directorate in Quneitra had initiated rehabilitation works on this section of the road on the tenth of last month. The objective of the project is to replace the existing degraded surface and install a new asphalt layer to ensure the safety and smooth transit of vehicles and machinery.
