One Dead, 13 Injured in Multiple Road Accidents Across Syria

Emergency response teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Disaster Management have reported an intensive period of activity over the last 24 hours, addressing a series of traffic accidents and fires across various regions in Syria.

According to reports issued by the civil defense, teams responded to 12 separate traffic accidents that resulted in one fatality and left 13 others with varying degrees of injury. Specialized crews provided immediate first aid at the scenes of the accidents before transporting the injured to medical facilities for necessary treatment. In addition, response teams worked to clear accident sites and manage traffic flow in the affected areas to ensure public safety.

In light of these incidents, the civil defense has reiterated the importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations to ensure the safety of all road users. Officials emphasized the need for drivers to reduce speed and perform regular maintenance checks on their vehicles, with particular focus on the functionality of brakes and windshield wipers. Furthermore, the authorities issued warnings regarding the dangers of distracted driving, specifically cautioning against the use of mobile phones while behind the wheel.

These recent accidents follow a trend of frequent road incidents. Statistics from the day prior recorded 19 traffic accidents resulting in 13 injuries, keeping emergency crews in a state of constant mobilization to manage the public safety implications.

Beyond traffic incidents, civil defense teams also responded to 45 fires that broke out in diverse locations. These incidents included fires in residential homes, commercial shops, electrical wiring, trash containers, and vegetation, such as dry grass and trees. Officials confirmed that the damage caused by these fires was limited to material property, as crews were able to successfully extinguish the flames, cool the affected areas, and secure them against reignition.

Relevant authorities have issued stern warnings to residents, urging them not to light fires in forested areas or agricultural fields. The public has been advised to refrain from discarding cigarette butts or glass containers along roadsides, particularly near crops and woodlands, due to the high risk of igniting widespread blazes. Residents are also encouraged to avoid burning dry weeds around homes or on the sides of roads, and to utilize safer, controlled methods for disposing of such waste.
