Jordanian Exports to Syria Rise by 33.8% in Seven Months

Trade activity between Jordan and Syria has seen a notable increase during the current year. According to data from the Jordanian Department of Statistics, the value of Jordanian exports to the Syrian market grew by 33.8 percent during the first seven months of 2026 compared to the same period in the previous year.
This growth occurs against the backdrop of a gradual improvement in land trade traffic across the border crossings between the two countries. This trend reflects an expansion in the exchange of goods between Syrian and Jordanian markets and a revitalization of commercial activity. Statistical data indicates that this surge in exports to Syria is part of a broader growth in total Jordanian exports during the same period, which rose by 10.3 percent. National exports also recorded a growth of 4.6 percent, supported by increasing demand from several markets, including Syria, Iraq, various Asian countries, and the European Union.
Regarding specific categories, the list of primary exports showed clear growth, including clothing and its accessories, as well as fertilizers and raw potash. The value of re-exports also witnessed a significant rise of 67.2 percent, contributing to the enhancement of regional trade exchange.
In terms of macroeconomic indicators, the total value of Jordanian exports during the first seven months of 2026 reached approximately 6.395 billion Jordanian dinars, against imports totaling 11.585 billion dinars. These figures resulted in a 6 percent reduction in the trade balance deficit compared to the same period last year.
This development in trade exchange with Syria reflects a restoration of activity in border transport and logistics services. These improvements are helping to strengthen commercial ties between the two sides and are revitalizing local markets in both countries.
