Wad Ghaderi Returns with New Short Story Collection
Syrian writer Wad Ghaderi continues to make his mark on the literary scene with his latest work, a collection of short stories titled “Hello Again, You Troublesome Loves.” The book features twenty stories that shed light on the fluctuations of human emotion and the manifestations of love in daily life.
Published in 2026 by the Nard Publishing and Distribution house in Germany, the collection is characterized by a style of narrative intensification. Ghaderi avoids wordiness and linguistic embellishment, opting instead for a direct approach that brings the reader straight to the heart of the narrative. The stories maintain a rapid pace and feature open endings, granting readers the space to participate in shaping the meaning of the texts. Most of the stories do not exceed two and a half pages, reflecting the author’s vision regarding the importance of brevity in contemporary literature.
Ghaderi utilizes diverse narrative techniques, including the “twist ending,” a device often associated with mystery literature. By employing this, he provides his stories about love with a surprising dimension, leaving the reader to contemplate multiple possibilities that may not be apparent upon a first reading. The author seeks to reclaim the pulse of romance, distancing himself from stereotypical or idealized portrayals, and instead presents love within its human reality—inclusive of its joy, pain, and disappointments.
In a statement regarding his new experience, Ghaderi noted that he focused on the concept of the “intensive contemporary text,” responding to the demands of an era that favors speed and conciseness. At the same time, he emphasized his commitment to maintaining a sense of intellectual challenge for the reader, addressing diverse literary sensibilities with transparent and direct language that avoids exaggeration.
Wad Ghaderi, born in 1976, hails from the Syrian city of Ariha and currently resides in Aleppo. He possesses a diverse literary and journalistic background, having written for numerous newspapers and magazines in the fields of literary criticism and political analysis, while also serving in editorial roles for Syrian cultural and economic publications.
This collection serves as the latest addition to his literary portfolio, which includes a poetry collection titled “The One Who Loves Me,” published in 2008, and a short story collection titled “The White Sky,” released in 2025. The new volume spans 102 pages in medium format and aims to further strengthen the presence of contemporary Syrian narrative in cultural circles.
