Syrian Sovereign Fund Discusses Investment Opportunities with US Delegation

The Syrian Sovereign Fund held a roundtable meeting on Tuesday in Damascus with a visiting American economic delegation. The meeting, which aimed to explore prospects for economic cooperation and potential investment partnerships, was part of a series of ministerial-level discussions organized by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

During the session, Yasser Al-Qahf, Director of Development and Planning at the Syrian Sovereign Fund, provided an overview of the fund’s investment structure. He noted that the fund oversees a diverse portfolio consisting of various sectors and companies. Al-Qahf emphasized the fund’s openness to establishing strategic partnerships with American and global firms, including the implementation of joint projects tailored to the specific needs of each economic sector.

Mohammad Mustat, Director of Public Relations at the Syrian Sovereign Fund, highlighted the significance of the US Chamber of Commerce delegation’s visit, noting that it represents the first time a delegation of this level has visited Syria. Mustat explained that the discussions involved a comprehensive exchange of views and proposals regarding the current state of the Syrian market and available investment opportunities. He stressed that there is clear interest from American companies in exploring various investment areas within the Syrian economy.

Furthermore, Mustat noted that several potential investment agreements and projects are currently under study and negotiation. He stated that the details and outcomes of these discussions will be officially announced in due course.

These diplomatic and economic engagements are part of an ongoing series of meetings between Syrian authorities and the American delegation. The sessions, which commenced last Monday with the participation of the International Cooperation and American Affairs departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are intended to strengthen economic cooperation and open new investment horizons amidst current shifts in the Syrian economic landscape. This initiative reflects a mutual desire to explore cooperation in a new investment environment that the Syrian government aims to foster and incentivize.
