Ministry of Transport Expands ‘Daqiq’ Platform to More Provinces

As part of its ongoing digital transformation strategy and efforts to improve services for citizens, the Syrian Ministry of Transport continues to roll out its “Daqiq” electronic platform across various provinces and directorates. This initiative aims to better organize the flow of visitors, significantly reduce waiting times, save time and effort, and alleviate congestion at transport offices nationwide.
The ministry launched this pilot program approximately five months ago at the Nahr Aisha sub-directorate in Damascus and the Sarmada directorate in Idlib. Following the success of this trial, the scope of the platform has been extended to include the provinces of Aleppo and Hama, with preparations currently underway for its upcoming launch in Deir ez-Zor.
The platform enables citizens to schedule appointments in advance for their required services. Appointments can be made through a dedicated link provided by the Ministry of Transport or by scanning a QR code available at the directorates. This digital process allows individuals to review all required documentation for their specific transaction before arriving at the office.
Hussam al-Din Rahal, director of the Nahr Aisha sub-directorate, highlighted the significance of this development, noting that the platform has brought a qualitative improvement to service standards. According to Rahal, citizens can now complete their transactions in one hour or less, a notable reduction from the long wait times previously experienced. He stated that the directorate currently processes between 300 and 400 transactions daily through the pre-booked appointment system, covering essential services such as vehicle registration, license renewal, and ownership transfers.
Abd al-Sattar Ibrahim, the directorate’s hall supervisor, added that the platform has effectively eased the workload on employees and improved operational efficiency. He also noted that users have the convenience of paying fees electronically via the “Sham Cash” application. This integrated system provides visitors with an estimated timeframe for completing their business, including cases that require mandatory technical vehicle inspections.
The initiative has been well-received by the public, with many citizens praising the simplicity of the procedures and the improved organization. Residents emphasized that the electronic booking system has saved them a full day that would have otherwise been lost to long queues and administrative delays. The Ministry of Transport continues its efforts to enhance the efficiency of service centers by implementing technical solutions that meet public needs, with plans to expand this service to all transport directorates across Syria.
