Latakia: Top Students Honored at ‘Harvest of Excellence 2’ Event
The Latakia Governorate recently hosted the “Harvest of Excellence 2” event at the city’s Cultural Center to celebrate the academic achievements of the region’s top students. Held under the patronage of the Directorate of Education, the ceremony honored high achievers from both basic and secondary education levels, recognizing their dedication and academic performance over the past school year.
Jamil Youssef, the school’s principal, stated that the initiative is designed to showcase student achievements and motivate them to continue their pursuit of excellence. He explained that the school administration implements educational strategies that prioritize refining scientific talents and nurturing creative capabilities. Youssef highlighted the school’s “youth-teaching-youth” approach, which fosters peer-to-peer interaction, knowledge exchange, and the sharing of experience among students.
During the event, Youssef noted the school’s significant academic results throughout the year. The institution led local rankings in academic performance and secured numerous medals in the Syrian Science Olympiad. Furthermore, the school’s students have actively participated in debate championships and community volunteer activities, demonstrating a strong sense of civic responsibility.
On the sidelines of the awards ceremony, the school hosted a scientific exhibition where students presented their research and innovative ideas. Among the highlighted projects was a study conducted by 11th-grade student Rand Mohammed regarding the influence of daily habits on genetics. Mohammed noted that such exhibitions serve as vital platforms for students to exchange scientific concepts and disseminate knowledge in an interactive and creative manner.
Reflecting on the recognition, the honored students expressed pride in their achievements, describing the awards as the culmination of years of hard work and commitment. Jude Akram Mohammed, a student who achieved a perfect score in the basic education certificate examinations, praised the school and his family for their essential support throughout his studies. He affirmed that this recognition serves as a powerful incentive to maintain his high standard of excellence in his upcoming educational stages.
“Harvest of Excellence 2” serves as an expansion of the school’s inaugural event.
