Temperatures Drop Across Syria Toward Seasonal Norms
Most regions across Syria are experiencing a slight decline in temperatures today, Saturday. The recorded values are now trending toward the typical annual averages expected for this time of year. This atmospheric shift accompanies standard summer weather conditions, with forecasts generally predicting clear to partly cloudy skies nationwide.
Despite this slight cooling, temperatures remain 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above their seasonal norms in the eastern regions and the Jazira area. These zones, much like the desert regions, are currently being affected by dusty haze, which is impacting overall visibility. Meanwhile, there remains a continued chance of localized rain showers across the northern parts of the coastal region.
Regarding conditions overnight, the National Center for Meteorology estimates that the weather will remain pleasant throughout the country. Increased surface humidity is expected in the western and southern regions. Authorities have also issued a warning regarding the potential for fog to form over large parts of the central and southern regions, as well as the Qalamoun area, urging drivers to exercise caution on those roads.
In terms of wind patterns, the center indicated that winds are blowing from the west to southwest at speeds ranging from light to moderate. However, a noticeable intensification is expected during the afternoon hours, with strong gusts potentially exceeding 50 km/h, particularly in the southern and central regions. At sea, conditions remain stable with low wave heights.
A look at the temperatures recorded across the governorates shows a clear geographical variance. Damascus recorded a low of 19 degrees and a high of 35, while the Damascus countryside and Qalamoun recorded 15/29. In the coastal region, Tartus and Latakia reached a high of 31 degrees.
In the interior and northern regions, Hama and Aleppo recorded highs of 36 degrees. The eastern regions continued to experience higher temperatures, with Deir ez-Zor and Al-Hasakah reaching 41 degrees Celsius, while Raqqa recorded 39 degrees. Other governorates saw high temperatures ranging between 29 and 33 degrees Celsius, reflecting a notable climatic contrast across the various Syrian geographical zones.
