Syrian Interior Ministry Participates in Global Public Security Forum
The Syrian Ministry of Interior participated in the “2026 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang),” held in the city of Lianyungang, People’s Republic of China, from September 8 to 10. The participation aligns with the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international security partnerships and enhance coordination mechanisms with law enforcement agencies globally to address contemporary security challenges.
The Syrian delegation was represented by the Assistant Minister of Interior for Technical Affairs, Ahmed Haffar, and the Director of International Cooperation, Colonel Abdul Rahim Jabara. During the event, the delegation attended the plenary session and various specialized forums. Discussions focused on strengthening international synergy to combat terrorism and eliminate its roots, in addition to addressing cybersecurity governance, combatting cybercrime and online fraud, and countering synthetic drugs.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Syrian delegation conducted a series of bilateral meetings with leaders and officials from public security agencies representing participating nations. These discussions were aimed at developing mechanisms for direct coordination, exchanging technical and professional expertise, and updating police training programs, all of which are intended to bolster Syria’s national capabilities in addressing emerging security threats.
Furthermore, the delegation toured the Public Security Technology and Equipment Exhibition, which was held in conjunction with the forum. During this visit, the officials explored the latest technologies currently utilized in policing operations, including artificial intelligence applications and anti-drone systems. This visit reflects the Ministry’s commitment to staying informed about global advancements in the fields of security and technology.
The Lianyungang Forum was established in 2015 at the initiative of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security as a platform for dialogue and cooperation in the fields of security and law enforcement. In 2022, the event evolved into its current format under the title “Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang)” to better adapt to international changes and address the needs of participating parties in the areas of security and development.
