Syrian Delegation Participates in WAKO General Assembly in Italy

A delegation from the Syrian Arab Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts Federation participated in the General Assembly meetings of the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO), held in Jesolo, Italy. The meetings took place on the sidelines of the Youth World Championships, which saw widespread participation from representatives of over 80 countries. The presence of the Syrian delegation represents a move toward strengthening the nation’s standing in international sporting forums.

The Syrian delegation was led by the President of the Federation, Saria Al-Jazaeri, and included Secretary and Organization Officer Mohamed Al-Hourani. During the assembly, participants held extensive discussions regarding the international development of the sport of kickboxing, alongside identifying mechanisms to enhance cooperation among member federations.

Following the event, the President of the Federation emphasized that this participation is part of a broader strategy to bolster the profile of Syrian kickboxing on the global stage. He noted that the Federation remains committed to continuous coordination and joint efforts with both Arab and Asian federations to support Syrian athletes and elevate their performance levels in various international championships.

Furthermore, the Syrian delegation conducted a series of side meetings with representatives from several participating Arab and Asian federations. These discussions focused on ways to foster joint coordination, exchange technical expertise, and develop training and competitive programs. Such initiatives are intended to contribute to the advancement of the sport at both the Arab and Asian levels, reflecting the Federation’s aspirations to develop its athletic staff and expand its base of international participation.
