School Complex Reopens in Al-Bab, Aleppo, Serving 1,060 Students

The city of Al-Bab, located in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, marked a significant step in supporting the educational sector this Sunday with the reopening of a major school complex. The site houses the Al-Buhturi High School, Atika bint Abdul Muttalib School, and Aisha al-Siddiqah School, following the completion of comprehensive restoration and rehabilitation work.
This educational facility had remained closed for nearly a decade. Its reactivation was made possible through joint funding provided by the Al-Bab local administration and local donors. The primary objective behind the project is to provide a suitable educational environment for approximately 1,060 students while helping to alleviate overcrowding in regional schools.
Hussain Al-Shihabi, the official for the Al-Bab region, emphasized in a press statement that the rehabilitation of the complex reflects the integrated efforts between official institutions and the local community. He noted that the project encompassed the restoration of playgrounds, courtyards, and classrooms to ensure the return of educational stability.
Mohammed Al-Zahran, Director of Al-Buhturi High School, detailed that the complex consists of two main blocks comprising 20 classrooms. He confirmed that 15 of these classrooms have been activated for the first phase of operations. Al-Zahran highlighted the importance of this initiative in accommodating the growing number of students and securing the necessary classroom capacity.
The head of the Al-Bab Council of Notables, Mohammed Abdo Al-Boushi, praised the return of these educational institutions to service. He stressed their historical role in graduating national talent across various fields and emphasized the necessity of continued support for the education sector in the region.
The rehabilitation of this complex is part of a series of ongoing government and civilian efforts to restore damaged schools and educational facilities throughout Aleppo Governorate. Over the past few months, particularly in July and August, several school complexes have been opened and renovated across various neighborhoods and towns in the governorate. These efforts are part of a broader plan to reconstruct educational infrastructure and improve services in areas that have regained stability.
