Raqqa Launches ‘Hala Madrasty’ Festival for School Supplies
The city of Raqqa has officially launched the first “Hala Madrasty” (Welcome, My School) festival, an initiative designed to support Syrian families and alleviate financial burdens as the new academic year approaches. The festival features approximately 55 diverse commercial participants, including manufacturing firms, companies, and bookstores, all offering school supplies directly to consumers at competitive prices.
Mahmoud Abu Al-Razz, Secretary of the Raqqa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the Chamber’s commitment to supporting such initiatives, noting that they contribute to stimulating the local economy. He highlighted the importance of these festivals in meeting citizens’ basic needs by providing essential goods at prices significantly lower than those found in the local market. Abu Al-Razz expressed his hope that these events will continue on a regular basis due to their positive impact on both the local community and the economy.
Qutaiba Mardini, owner of Mardini Exhibition Company, explained that the festival will run for 15 days, showcasing a wide range of educational necessities. These include stationery, school bags, and clothing, all provided through direct-to-consumer sales channels. The primary goal of this commercial gathering is to simplify the shopping process for parents by consolidating various school requirements in one location, thereby saving them both time and effort.
Participants in the event noted that the exhibits cover all educational stages, from primary through secondary school, with special offers available on notebooks and bags. The initiative has been welcomed by the residents of Raqqa. Sufian Al-Obaid, a local resident, noted the importance of having such accessible options, which help reduce the cost-of-living burden on Syrian families amidst current economic conditions.
These commercial events highlight the vital role that exhibitions play in energizing trade and establishing direct channels between producers and consumers. By doing so, they enhance the purchasing power of citizens and ensure that school supplies remain available at high quality and affordable prices as the academic season begins.
