New Post Office Opens in Karnaz, Hama Countryside

The Hama Postal Directorate inaugurated a new post office on Tuesday in the city of Karnaz, located in the northwestern countryside of the province. The opening is part of the Syrian Postal Establishment’s ongoing efforts to expand its geographical service network and address the needs of citizens across various regions.
Talhat al-Shantout, Director of the Hama Post, explained that this initiative aligns with the establishment’s strategy to reactivate postal branches in rural areas. This includes both the restoration of facilities that had ceased operations due to the years of war and the establishment of entirely new centers. Al-Shantout noted that the directorate has recently overseen a series of openings in Basirin, Qalaat al-Madiq, and Morek. Furthermore, he revealed that there are imminent plans to launch additional offices in the cities of Kafr Zeita and Uqayribat.
For his part, Hassan al-Hassan, a member of the Hama Governorate Executive Office for Communications, emphasized that the new Karnaz branch will offer more than traditional postal services. It will provide a wide range of essential financial services, including the “Sham Cash” service, the issuance of real estate records, and the processing of international remittances. The office will also facilitate the distribution of salaries for retirees.
Al-Hassan highlighted the developmental significance of the initiative, noting that the presence of a post office in Karnaz aims to alleviate the financial and time-related burdens on local residents and those in neighboring villages. Previously, citizens were required to travel to the provincial center to complete their official transactions. He expressed hope that providing these basic services will contribute to stabilizing the population and encourage the return of displaced persons from northern camps to their hometowns.
Residents of Karnaz have welcomed the opening of the office, describing it as a positive response to their daily needs, particularly regarding the convenience of collecting financial dues for retirees. These developments are part of a broader expansion plan implemented by the Hama Postal Directorate. This initiative follows the June 30 opening of three new post offices in the Al-Qusour, Al-Karama, and Al-Hader neighborhoods of Hama city, reflecting a sustained effort to enhance service infrastructure throughout the governorate.
