New Post Office Branch Opens in Maadan, Raqqa Governorate
The Syrian Post Establishment inaugurated a new office on Tuesday in the city of Maadan, located in the Raqqa governorate. This initiative is designed to improve access to postal services and official transactions for residents of both the city and its surrounding villages.
This expansion is part of the Establishment’s broader strategy to broaden its service network throughout the governorate. By establishing local facilities, the institution aims to reduce the time, effort, and travel costs previously incurred by citizens who had to commute to the city of Raqqa to complete their administrative tasks.
Ahmed Hilal, Director of the Raqqa Post Directorate, stated that the new office is a key component of a comprehensive plan to increase the density of postal centers across the governorate’s rural areas. He confirmed that the facility is fully operational and is now providing a wide range of postal and logistical services sanctioned by the Syrian Post system.
Mahdi al-Haj Saleh, a member of the Executive Office for Communications and Post in Raqqa, highlighted the direct impact of the Maadan center on the daily lives of the local population. He noted that the authorities are committed to continuing efforts to open additional postal centers in the governorate’s rural districts to address the service needs of various local communities.
According to Mohamed Abdullah al-Sheikh, the administrative official for the Raqqa region, the office offers a comprehensive package of services. These include processing official documents, providing services for pensioners, and facilitating financial operations, such as withdrawals and deposits, through the ‘Sham Cash’ application. The center also provides essential communications services.
Local residents have welcomed the initiative. Khalil al-Fayad, a local citizen, expressed his appreciation for the move, noting that the facility significantly reduces the burden of travel, given that the city is located approximately 70 kilometers from the center of Raqqa.
The opening of the Maadan post office is a continuation of the Syrian Post Establishment’s efforts to reactivate and expand its network in the Raqqa governorate. The Establishment has previously succeeded in restarting operations at several centers across the region, including in Raqqa city, Al-Tabqah, Al-Sabkha, Al-Jarniyah, Dibsi Afnan, and Tell Abyad. These developments are part of a national strategy intended to bring basic services closer to the public and improve the efficiency of government functions in areas witnessing service recovery.
