Minister Al-Shaibani Expresses Condolences Over Daraa Airstrikes

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, offered his condolences on Thursday to the families of victims killed during airstrikes conducted by the Jordanian Air Force. The strikes occurred on Monday evening in the village of Al-Tuf, located in the northern countryside of Daraa.
The Jordanian bombardment resulted in the deaths of seven people, including women and children, and left three others injured. The incident prompted an immediate official response from the Syrian government. On Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates summoned the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Damascus, Sufyan Al-Qudah, to deliver a formal letter of protest regarding the violations of Syrian airspace.
In an official statement following the incident, Damascus expressed its strong condemnation and complete rejection of the airstrikes, citing a violation of Syrian sovereignty that took place without prior coordination. The Syrian government announced that it has begun practical procedures to form an urgent joint field and security committee with the Jordanian side, intended to address these violations and prevent their recurrence in the future.
Minister Al-Shaibani held a telephone conversation with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, on Wednesday. During the call, the two sides agreed to activate cooperation through the joint security committee. The committee’s mandate includes verifying all facts and details related to the recent operations in Daraa, monitoring their field repercussions, and developing mechanisms for intelligence and field coordination. Both ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in addressing terrorist threats, with a focus on ensuring the preservation of Syrian sovereignty and protecting the lives of innocent civilians in border areas.
