Israeli Forces Incursion in Western Daraa and Escalated Hostilities
The western countryside of Daraa has witnessed a new incursion by Israeli forces, continuing a series of field maneuvers that violate the 1974 disengagement agreement. Local sources reported that a military unit consisting of three vehicles entered the Wadi al-Raqad area in the Yarmouk Basin on Friday. During the operation, the unit opened fire toward a shepherd and his children who were present in the area.
According to the reports, the movement was intended to intimidate the shepherd and his family, forcing them to vacate the area. The Israeli unit remained in the vicinity for approximately half an hour before withdrawing. No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.
This incident follows a similar attack carried out by Israeli forces just one day prior in the southern countryside of Quneitra. In that instance, a shepherd was reportedly beaten during a military incursion between the village of Al-Asha and the town of Al-Rafid. That encounter resulted in the trampling of several sheep, which led to their death. These events represent an ongoing escalation of violations that include raiding civilian homes, detaining citizens, bulldozing agricultural lands, and conducting artillery strikes in areas near the separation line.
The Syrian government continues to demand an end to the Israeli presence in Syrian territory. Damascus maintains that all measures and attacks carried out by the occupying forces are null and void, asserting that they carry no legal weight under international law. Furthermore, the Syrian government has renewed its call for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by compelling Israel to withdraw fully from southern Syria and to cease the ongoing violations of the disengagement agreement. Damascus emphasized that these actions threaten regional security and stability, while simultaneously obstructing the livelihoods and daily lives of civilians residing in border villages and towns.
