Israeli Forces Detain Two Individuals in Daraa’s Maariya Village

The village of Maariya, located in the Yarmouk Basin in the western countryside of Daraa, experienced a nighttime incursion by Israeli forces, resulting in house raids and the detention of several residents.

According to local sources, a military unit consisting of 12 Israeli vehicles entered the village under the cover of darkness. The force reportedly followed a route known as the “Valley Road” from the direction of the plains to reach the residential neighborhoods. Upon arrival, the troops conducted thorough searches of several homes before detaining two individuals from the village.

Local reports indicated that the forces later released one of the detainees after a period of custody. However, the fate and whereabouts of the second individual remain unknown as of the time of this report.

This operation occurs against a backdrop of ongoing violations of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement. Border areas in southern Syria frequently experience military incursions, house raids, land excavation, and shelling. Damascus has consistently characterized these actions as blatant breaches of Syrian sovereignty and international law.

In response to these developments, Syria has reiterated its demand for an end to the Israeli presence on its territory. Authorities in Damascus have asserted that all measures taken by Israeli forces in southern Syria are null, void, and hold no legal effect. Furthermore, the Syrian government has called upon the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and compel Israel to withdraw completely from its lands, while halting repeated attacks on civilians and their property.
