Gas Pumping Resumes in Deir ez-Zor Following Repairs

The Syrian Petroleum Company announced on Friday that the Al-Jabsah gas pipeline has returned to full operational service. This follows the successful completion of essential maintenance and repair works by the company’s technical teams to address damage caused by an act of sabotage in the Shoula area, located in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

In a statement released via its official Telegram channel, the company confirmed that its technical crews completed the repairs in record time. The operations involved the replacement of an 18-meter-long, 16-inch-diameter section of the pipeline, which had been damaged. This intervention has allowed for the resumption of normal gas pumping through the line.

Yousef Al-Yousef, Director of Onshore Gas at the Syrian Gas Company—an affiliate of the Syrian Petroleum Company—stated that the reactivation of the Al-Jabsah line is a significant step toward ensuring the continuity of gas supplies. He emphasized that this restoration is critical to supporting operations and vital facilities throughout the region.

Al-Yousef explained that the company’s workshops responded immediately to the incident, deploying to the site to conduct necessary inspections and rehabilitate the affected section. Highlighting the economic and operational importance of the infrastructure, the director noted that the pipeline facilitates the transport of approximately 950,000 cubic meters of gas daily.

The pipeline, which connects the Shoula area to Deir ez-Zor governorate, serves as a vital component of the region’s gas production and transport infrastructure. The line had been targeted by an act of sabotage on September 28, which resulted in an explosion at the pipeline’s sectional valve, necessitating an immediate technical intervention to restore service.
