Homs Concludes Recruitment Exams for Emergency Medical Services
The Governorate of Homs has officially concluded its latest round of competitive examinations aimed at recruiting new personnel for the local Emergency, Referral, and Medical Response system. The final stage of the selection process, held this Monday, focused on evaluating candidates for the roles of data entry clerk and communication and referral officer, marking the culmination of a rigorous, multi-stage staffing initiative.
According to Abdul Razzaq Hamra, the head of the Homs Emergency, Referral, and Medical Response system, the recruitment process attracted significant interest. Out of 108 candidates who initially registered through the Ministry of Administrative Development’s portal, 70 applicants proceeded to the final examination stage. The applicant pool was divided between those vying for data entry positions, who accounted for 22 candidates, and the remaining applicants seeking roles as communication and referral officers.
The selection procedure is designed to ensure that new staff members possess both the necessary technical skills and the practical aptitude required for high-pressure medical environments. Hamra noted that successful candidates from the written exams will be invited for subsequent oral interviews. Once these final evaluations are complete, the results will be submitted to the Syrian Ministry of Health. The Ministry will then distribute the available positions based on the specific, real-time requirements of the health sector in Homs.
This latest recruitment drive is part of a broader, ongoing effort to bolster the readiness and operational capacity of emergency services in the province. Throughout the preceding days, the examination panels had already conducted assessments for several other critical roles, including ambulance team leaders, paramedics, logistics support officers, and emergency readiness controllers.
Hamra emphasized that these roles are vital for maintaining an efficient emergency response. The assessments are specifically calibrated to evaluate a candidate’s grasp of medical theory and their proven ability to manage critical, time-sensitive situations in the field. Such expertise is considered essential to reducing response times and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients requiring urgent medical intervention.
Participants in the exam process highlighted the importance of the technical testing, noting that the automated question formats required a high degree of precision and focus. Many candidates expressed a strong commitment to the mission of the department, stating their desire to apply their skills toward humanitarian and community-based health efforts within the province.
By systematically filling these positions with qualified personnel, the Homs medical authority aims to strengthen its infrastructure, ensuring that the local emergency response system remains fully prepared to address the health needs and emergency challenges faced by the province.
