Google Launches Platform to Integrate Apps with AI Services

Google has unveiled a new technical platform designed to enhance the capabilities of its AI-driven services and search engine. By allowing developers and businesses to integrate their external applications directly into the Google ecosystem, the company aims to enable users to complete a wide range of digital tasks within a unified interface, eliminating the need to switch constantly between individual applications.
According to a report by TechCrunch, the platform, titled “Connected Apps Platform,” is currently available to developers in the United States as a preview version. The platform provides a comprehensive suite of technical tools that allow developers to register their applications, test their functionality, and submit them for review to be integrated into Google’s search engine, its AI-based ecosystem, or both.
The importance of these “connected apps” lies in their ability to streamline access to various digital services. Users can now execute specific tasks directly through Google interfaces, such as designing advertising materials via external tools like Canva or creating music playlists through YouTube Music. This technology relies on advanced application linking tools, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and “AppFunctions” interfaces specifically designed for Android applications.
To ensure effective management of this ecosystem, Google has introduced a centralized console called “Google Connected Console.” This tool allows developers to manage their applications and track performance metrics with precision, including usage rates, response times, and technical error rates. Additionally, it provides management features for brand identity and application logos.
The company noted that the ecosystem currently includes more than 50 different applications, ranging from services provided by major corporations—such as Adobe, Experian, and Peloton—to Google’s own core applications, including Google Photos, YouTube Music, and Google Home. Over the coming weeks, the list of applications available through the search engine is expected to expand, with additional services such as the meditation app Calm preparing to join the platform.
This development takes place amid intense competition among major technology companies to build more effective AI tools. These companies are striving to create “smart agents” capable of performing complex digital tasks on behalf of users. By linking various digital services within a single, seamless environment, the initiative aims to enhance the user experience while reducing the time and effort required to access essential digital services.
